Launching our Spoon-Saving Job Recommendations Tool

On our job hub, Disabled jobseekers can now request personalized job recommendations based on jobseekers courses, resumes, and job search preferences.

Most Disabled jobseekers already have two full-time jobs. Managing their disability and applying for jobs. Even job searching takes longer for the average Disabled jobseeker than for a non Disabled jobseeker. Beyond filtering for roles that match their desired industry, salary, and experience level, Disabled jobseekers take on the additional mental load of vetting jobs for accessible application processes, inclusive employers, and job requirements that match the transferable skills they’ve gained through their lived experience of Disability.

We want to take as much of the additional mental load off of our Disabled jobseekers as possible. So in addition to vetting our jobs according to fair pay and benefits, inclusive language etc…, we’re launching our Spoon Saving Job Recommender. This AI-powered tool finds Disabled jobseekers roles that are a good fit based on factors including:

  • Making Space courses they’ve enrolled in or completed
  • Skills and experiences in their bio and resume
  • Other jobs they’ve applied for or saved

How does it work?

  1. On the job hub page, Disabled jobseekers click the recommendation button in the toolbar on the left
  2. They’ll then be shown jobs that match their skills, experience, and interests
  3. When they click on a job, they’ll be shown a breakdown of why you were matched with this job

This job recommendation tool is powered by AI to provide a quicker and more tailored job searching experience. When it comes to AI we know privacy is top of mind. Our jobseekers data isn’t used to train large language models, and if any of our jobseekers prefer not to use AI, they can disable any AI-related features in their profile at any time.
